2013 Club Highlights
Rubislaw men crowned 2013 Aegon Team Tennis Champions of Scotland
Congratulations to Rubislaw's men's team for becoming the 2013 Aegon Team Tennis Champions of Scotland. Captained by Robert Ainsley, the team also included Bruce Strachan, Martin Harbord, Darren Nicol, Raymond Barclay and Samuel Stead.
After narrowly losing to Braid in their first match on a tie-break shoot out, Rubislaw's men went on to record wins over Western, Strathgryffe, Virgin Active Lanarkshire, and Stirling University. As winners of Division One in the Scottish Regional Tier, Rubislaw qualify for the National Playoffs and look forward to the prospect of a long trip south of the border next June.

Club Championships Finals Day 2013
Finals Day of the Club Championships was held on Saturday 31 August 2013. To view a full report of all results and pictures of the competitors click on the link below.
Club Championships Finals Day
All members are encouraged to come along and watch the annual club championships finals held on Saturday 31st August. It would be great to have plenty of spectators to generate a good atmosphere for the players.
Refreshments will be served.

Stewart Milne Group North East Scotland Tennis Championships 2013
Rubislaw players Robert Ainsley an Martin Harbord teamed up to win the Men's doubles at the Stewart Milne Group North East Championships held at Cults Tennis Club. Robert and Martin beat Alan Ross (David Lloyd Aberdeen) and Steven Birrell 3-6 6-2 [10-6]
City of Aberdeen North East Tennis Tournament 2013
A number of Rubislaw players successfully competed in the City of Aberdeen tournament. Martin Harbord beat fellow Rubislaw team mate, Robert Ainsley 6-3 6-1 to win the Men's singles competition. Martin and Robert then teamed up to beat Darren Nicol (Rubislaw) and Michael Howie(Cults) in the doubles final 7-6 7-6. Sheila Williams and Shona Gatt both from Rubislaw won the Woman's doubles beating Gillian Athanas and Lucy Whelan both from David Lloyd Aberdeen. Sheila also enjoyed success in the Womans 45+ Singles and teamed up with Rubislaw team mate Anne Shipley to win the Womens 45+ doubles. Darren Nicol (Rubislaw) and Laura Wood won the mixed doubles event beating Robert Ainsley (Rubislaw) and Tri Drummond (David Lloyd Aberdeen)
Rubislaw NESLTA Confined Tournament
Entries are now being taken for the annual Confined Tournament to be held at Rubislaw from Sunday 9th to Saturday 16th June.
Under 16 boys and girls and Adult Men's and Ladies singles events will be running throughout the week.

Season Opening Day Event - Saturday 13th April
Open to all club members, the timetable for the afternoon is:
- 12.00 to 1.30pm - Darren will take the Minis and Juniors (open to non members too). There will be kids’ party food.
- 2.00pm onwards - social tennis and games. Food (sandwiches and cakes) and drinks will be provided.
We’ve decided not to have a BBQ this year due to the clubhouse alterations being in progress but we plan to have a celebration once the renovations are complete.
New Tournaments
Rubislaw will be hosting 5 new tournaments, alongside the existing tournament schedule.
The additional tournaments include 2 men's singles matchplay days, open to players with ratings 10.2 -9.1.
There will also be 3 Open Doubles tournaments for Men, Ladies and Mixed.

Quiz Night
On Saturday 9th February, the club hosted it's first social event of the year. The large turnout of 8 teams enjoyed a delicious buffet provided by Thistle Catering Services and challenging set of questions delivered by our very own Quiz Master Scott Middleton. After 8 rounds, the team "William and Felix's future wives" ran out winners, however it was clear to see that some members should stick to playing tennis! The last placed team was "Jonny's Jokers" who went home delighted with signed tennis balls by club coach Darren Nicol.

Rubislaw Nominated for Club of the Year 2012
Rubislaw LTC has been shortlisted for the 2012 Tennis Scotland Awards, in the Club of the Year category, along with St Andrews LTC and Newlands LTC.
Nominations were recieved online from across the Scottish tennis community and these nominationswere then shortlisted by a team consisting of the Tennis Scotland staff and representitives from the Tennis Scotland Board and Council.
